Relativity Analytics Features

Relativity, the innovative web-based litigation support platform, incorporates ground-breaking concept search and categorization technology. This technology enables Relativity’s Analytics feature set.

What is Concept Search Technology?

Unlike traditional keyword search engines, concept searching is based on how and where ideas and concepts intersect with similar ideas and concepts in a document collection. This is mathematically based – there are no word lists or dictionaries, or linguistic techniques (like sentence structures). The technology is self-training, “learning” all it requires from material being processed. Not only can it identify, classify, and sort information rapidly, it will also find relevant documents that other techniques routinely miss.

Clustering

Feature: Relativity Analytics can automatically cluster (sort) a collection of documents into subsets based on their conceptual content, without the need for input or setup from a user or administrator to train the system. The natural subdivisions produced by Relativity Analytics provide significant insight into the overall information content of a document collection.

Benefits: Clustering provides an effective tool for analyzing the results of an entire data set or query. By clustering all documents in a database, case teams can more readily separate groups of non-relevant documents from documents of interest that need to be reviewed. By clustering relevant documents in a reviewer’s assigned batch, Relativity provides an immediate overview of the batch to the assigned reviewer, giving structure to the review, and increasing speed and accuracy of the individual reviewer and review team.

Categorization

Feature: Use the power of the conceptual search engine to categorize and organize documents in the entire database based on a small set of user examples.

Benefits: Prioritize your review queue. Perform automated quality control of issue coding before depositions, productions, or trial. Run foreign language detection. Organize opposing counsel's production based on issues identified in your collection.

Keyword Expansion

Feature: Select keywords within the Document Viewer and have Relativity produce a list of conceptually related terms in a popup window.

Benefits: Assess and evaluate your client’s document collection and proposed keyword lists early. Understand important concepts in opposing counsel’s document production. Identify commonly used aliases and e-mail handles. Quickly determine how one keyword relates to all of the documents in the collection.

Similar Document Detection

Feature: Quickly identify and group documents that have virtually the same content. This can be done “on-the-fly” through a right-click in Relativity’s innovative Document Viewer, or in a batch process to identify similar document sets for review.

Benefits: Improve accuracy and eliminate wasted review time by keeping conceptually similar documents grouped together during review. Make bulk decisions and assignments. Perform automated quality control by quickly comparing documents coded by the team as privilege or responsive to similar document sets.

Inline Concept Search

Feature: Utilize concept searching within Relativity’s innovative Document Viewer by right-clicking on a displayed document. Submit relevant sentences or paragraphs of text or whole documents as a search while viewing the document.

Benefits: Find relevant documents quickly and easily without having to construct a search string, or move to another section of the review application and develop search criteria.

Concept Search

Feature: Run searches based on how and where ideas and concepts intersect with similar ideas and concepts in a collection. Submit sentences or paragraphs of relevant text or the content of entire documents as search criteria.

Benefits: Find more of the relevant documents and less junk. Do it faster and more accurately than by constructing multiple elaborate keyword searches. Avoid the pitfalls of OCR errors affecting search results.

Integrated Keyword and Concept Search

Feature: Combine keywords and concepts in one integrated search.

Benefits: Eliminate the issue of a single keyword having multiple meanings. Find the documents you intend the search to return and avoid false positive hits.

Multiple Concept Indexes

Feature: Create searchable or categorization indexes on-the-fly inside of Relativity.

Benefits: Fine tune indexes and make adjustments for your review team based on the changing needs of the case and new information learned from the documents. Interact dynamically with the document collection.
